This year I started college at Colchester Institute taking Graphics Communication Level 3. I had always had a passion for artwork but this was something different. No one really knows what the full term 'Graphic' means. Too many people think it is something that is digital, which is true, but not fully. I had some knowledge of Graphic Design but not as much as I do now. Going through various units and trying out different techniques gave me room for adaption and change. I went into college knowing the minimum of some of the programs such as Adobe Photoshop. Every day we all use different techniques and different styles throughout our daily life but using a program or trying a different drawing style has now become a chore that has to be done so I can keep on my learning. Some of the units I have struggled with and some of them I have really enjoyed with a passion and wanted to extend my learning by going out to various places to find out something new. Looking back before this course, I felt that graffiti was 'cool' and it 'looked nice'. Now I look upon it as amazing pieces of artwork that has taken a specific individual ages to prepare and produce. Nothing happens over night, everything takes time. Some of the pieces of artwork that I have done include poster designs that we made for The National Theatre, work that interlinks with graffiti and also some comic book work. All of the briefs have had a unique element to them to explore our learning and I have tried to grasp every brief and go in my own direction but keeping in line with the brief.
